The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik was arrested on Friday during a protest rally here.
Malik along with other party members were detained by the police near the main chowk of Maisuma, resulting into clashes between forces and stone-pelting youth.
Police personal were deployed in the area and armored vehicles were positioned on exit and entry points to thwart the protest rally.
In spite of the restrictions, Yasin along with his party supporters marched towards the Lal chowk raising pro freedom slogans against giving clean chit to pathribal killers.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Malik said "A clean chit to the killers of Pathribal by the Indian army has proved that the state is run by the army."
"What is wrong in asking for disclosure of the identity of those martyred in Lolab and why are the residents of Lolab and Kupwara being targeted on protesting for this cause," asked Malik.
