A local court sentenced a tribal on Friday to rigorous imprisonment for three years for torching a house during the 2008 communal violence in Kandhamal.

Additional sessions judge of fast track court number 2, C R Dash convicted the man for torching the house of a woman at Dakringir village in G Udayagiri and imposed a fine of Rs 2000.

The judge, however, acquitted 10 others accused of various charges of riots due to lack of evidence.
Police yesterday arrested 9 more people from village Gatabahali on the charges of involvement in the riots.
They had allegedly fled from their village after the incident.
The nine were sent to judicial custody after being produced before the court.
