A 41-year-old man died here in mysterious circumstances after his wife’s family members claimed he had allegedly shot at her on Saturday morning following an altercation, police said.

Johnny Jacob (41) and Anjana Jacob (42) had married 18 years ago after a love affair and had frequent altercations and differences which allegedly forced her to stay separately from her husband in Shahdara .

The couple had two children, aged fourteen and three years.

On Saturday, Anjana’s sister Seema Gupta lodged an FIR at Sahibabad against Johnny and claimed he had allegedly shot at his wife near Hindon river following an altercation, police said.

Anjana is currently under intensive care at Narender Mohan Hospital in Ghaziabad since Saturday.
After initial police investigations, Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said: “The injuries suffered by the woman were not due to gunshots.”

Johnny’s family members claimed foul play in their son’s death. “We don’t know whether he himself consumed or was forced to consume some substance which led to his death,” said Chanda Jacob,
victim’s mother.

SSP Raghubir Lal said proper investigations would be conducted into the incident to find out what exactly happened.
