Man dies as cop?s jeep hits bike

THE JEEP of the station officer (SO) of Kolar police station hit a man to death near Pul Bogda in Jehangirabad late on Saturday night. Another person was injured in the incident.

Nilesh Kumar, a resident of Sehore, was riding the two-wheeler while his friend was riding pillion when the jeep of the Kolar SO Ramjilal Sharma hit them near Pul Bogda.

The two-wheeler riders were coming from the opposite direction when the jeep collided with the motorcycle. Nilesh was critically injured and admitted to the hospital where he succumbed later. His friend Dhan Singh, was also injured and admitted to hospital where his condition was reported to be out of danger.

Sharma was not on the driver’s seat and the vehicle was being driven by the driver Salim. However, the driver has alleged that the two-wheeler came suddenly from nowhere and crashed into the jeep. The Aishbagh police have registered a case against the jeep driver for negligence leading to mishap and seized the jeep.

The motorcycle was badly damaged in the accident. The deceased, Nilesh, was a native of Sehore, and worked at the canteen of a private telecom company. He and his friend were returning from a party when the mishap occurred. The police are investigating the case. It was the personal jeep of Sharma and not the official vehicle.

In a separate incident, nearly 110 persons were booked for causing disruption to traffic near Govindpura on Sunday. The residents, who were demanding relief for the rain affected apart from electricity connection, had staged a road blockade. The police booked Ulash Shankar and 110 others in this regard. In another case three persons, Rizwan, Mohsin and Zubeida, were booked for stabbing one, Sunil, resident of Bhim Nagar on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police arrested a man from Nadra Bus Stand and recovered brown sugar from his possession. The accused, Akram, 20, a resident of Bazaria, was caught when he was looking for buyers in the morning. About 10-gram brown sugar was seized from him. The accused has been booked under NDPS Act.
