A man reportedly drowned a four-year-old child to settle a score with his parents. The police said they caught the man, Faiyaz Ansari, on Sunday and found the child’s body in a flour sack at Ansari’s house.
The incident, reported from the urbanised village of Karterpuri near Palam Vihar, occurred on Saturday evening after Ansari made a R1 lakh ransom call to the child's father, Raj Bahadur.
The police said Bahadur filed complaint at the Palam Vihar police station after his son, Deepak Kumar, went missing since 6pm on Saturday. Bahadur also said Ansari, his neighbour, was missing.
According to the police, the accused, an 18-year-old, had an argument with Bahadur's wife a fortnight ago and wanted to teach her a lesson.
The police located Ansari with the help of his cellphone number. During interrogation, Ansari told the police that he lured Deepak with a chocolate and drowned him in a bucket. He then hid Deepak’s body in a flour sack and dumped it in his room and fled the village.
