A minor spat nearly cost a man his life after his brother allegedly shot at him near Farrukhnagar in Kheda Khumurpur village on Monday.

The victim, Bijender, sustained a bullet wound to his thigh.

He is reported to be out of danger.

Investigation officer SHO Narender Singh said, "Bijender told us that his brother Naresh along with a friend Kaushal was consuming liquor at their residence on Sunday night. Though the victim requested his brother to stop drinking, he refused to budge. On Monday morning, Naresh left home while leaving his friend at home. Bijender's mother asked Kaushal to leave their house, but he misbehaved with her."

Meanwhile, Naresh returned and got furious that his friend had been insulted.

"Naresh and Kaushal left home on their bike and returned after half-an-hour. They caught hold of Bijender and Naresh fired two shots at him. The bullet injured Bijender's thigh. Villagers rushed to the spot," added the SHO.

Though Naresh managed to escape with the pistol, his friend Kaushal was nabbed by the villagers.

We are conducting raids to nab Naresh, said the SHO.
