india Updated: Feb 05, 2007 04:15 IST

The special Task Force (STF) rescued 32-year-old Nitin Chauhan ‘Rinki’ from his abductors in Mainpuri here on Sunday. Six persons have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.

On January 22, Chauhan, a resident of Bhawant road in Mainpuri, was abducted. The additional director general (crime and law and order) had directed ASP STF, Vijay Bhushan to work out the case.

Bhushan formed two teams headed by deputy SP, STF, Shahab Rasheed Khan and Indrajit Singh Tibbatiya. The STF learnt that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh for releasing Chauhan. The STF sleuths, through electronic surveillance, tracked the kidnappers leading to their arrest on Sunday. Those arrested have been identified as Vinod Kumar, Ram Vir, Rakesh, Sunil (all residents of Auraiya), Ashok Yadav and Babli (both residents of Etawah).
