THE MISROD police on Wednesday arrested a man, who allegedly posed as a relative of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and made phone calls to officials, asking them for re-charging his cell phone and other minor works.

The accused, Rajkumar Chouhan, 32, a resident of Tamot (Obaidullahganj), was arrested and booked for fraud and punishment for cheating by impersonation. He is being interrogated.

Police said the accused would make phone calls to the officials in Bhopal Municipal Corporation and other departments asking them to recharge his mobile. He told the officials that he was Surjit Singh Chouhan, a cousin of the CM.
Besides, the accused reportedly called officials and asked them in matters of transfer and postings.

He had made such calls to the BMC Public Relations Officer Virendra Tiwari and Executive Engineer AK Nanda. There were also complaints of alleged extortion against him.

As Surjeet Singh Chouhan came to know about such reports that someone was misusing his name and seeking favour from officials, he informed the police. Subsequently, Rajkumar Chouhan was caught. The accused is basically a farmer in Raisen.
