A medical practitioner in an Uttar Pradesh town has been beaten to death on Monday evening allegedly by three teenaged brothers for asking them to stop harassing his daughter.

According to the FIR filed by the police on the complaint of the relatives of the deceased, the trio, students of class 10, 11 and 12, assaulted Indresh Parashar who was returning home in Inchauli area of Meerut district from his clinic in nearby Parikshatgarh town.

Parashar had run into a nearby gymnasium to save his life, but the assailants chased him there and beat him up with baseball bats and hockey sticks.
The police had taken him to a nearby nursing home, where he died during treatment.

"He died of internal bleeding," said station house officer of Inchauli police station Hans Raj Bhadauria.

Bhadauria said the deceased had complained to the father of the trio Ashwini Sharma, a resident of Ganganagar locality, that his sons had been harassing his daughter. The brothers had then planned the attack.

"We have arrested Ashwini and one of the accused, while the search is on for the other two absconding brothers," said Bhadauria.

(An earlier story mentioned the man as a doctor, which has been changed to medical practitioner)
