A man shot dead his brother and injured his nephew over a property dispute in Gurgaon on Friday, police said.

According to police, the incident took place at Kanhai village Friday morning when the accused Durgesh went to his brother's house and started firing.

A villager said that the accused fired eight rounds and pumped three bullets in to Satish’s body while a bullet hit his 20-year-old son Punit's shoulder. They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared Satish (40) brought dead.

Punit’s condition is said to be serious and the police are yet to record his statement, a senior police officer said, adding that the accused and his family members are absconding.

According to the villagers, Satish and Durgesh had a property depute for a long time. They said Durgesh was earlier served jail term for his involvement in a fraud case.

“We will take the statement from Punit who is recovering in the hospital. With his statement we can get more information. Also a forensic team visited the spot for collecting evidences. We have sent the body for postmortem. The weapon which was used in the incident is yet to be recovered,” the police officer said.
