sThe Titawala police on Tuesday cracked a four-month old murder case, with the arrest of one of the main accused recently. Two arrests had already been made in the last month.
According to the police, a woman’s body was found at Baapsai road, Titwala on September 30. Police Inspector Gautam Shinde said that the body was naked and charred.
The woman was identified as 22-year-old Priya Chandanshiv, a resident of Ulhasnagar, by her par ents who were searching for her after she disappeared from her residence on September 28.
Medical reports revealed that Priya was eight-months pregnant at the time of her death. Upon investigation it was revealed that Priya was having an affair with Milind Chavan (27).
When she found out about her pregnancy, Priya started pestering Milind to marry her.
On December 16, police arrested another accused Ganesh Mudliar (25) from his native place in Karnataka.
Mudliar confessed that the three of them had first strangled Priya, after which Milind removed her clothes, set her body on fire, to destroy any evidence.
While the police arrested Chavan and his friend Sunil Vangare last month, it did not have enough evidence to prove their crime.
