The police on Friday arrested a person for allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old man to death near the Kherki Daula toll plaza a day ago.
The motive of the murder is said to be an old enmity arising out of a property dispute.
The police have also recovered the weapon used in the crime. The victim, Parveen Kumar, a resident Kherki Daula village, had a property dispute with accused Reetu Kumar, 32, and his father Om Prakash — residents of the same village.
The accused, a driver, stabbed the victim several times when the latter was on his way towards the expressway. Reetu later fled from the spot.
“Parveen was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He suffered serious injuries on his neck and chest. His body was later sent for post-mortem,” said the investigating officer.
“We recovered the knife used in the crime from the spot. The accused was arrested on Friday. A case under Section 302, IPC, has been registered against him,” the officer added.
The police said the victim and the accused used to indulge in frequent fights.
“A few months ago, Parveen and his father had an argument with the family of the accused over property,” said a policeman.
