The Ghaziabad police on Saturday arrested two persons from Masoori area of the city in connection with the murder of a sales manager of a private insurance company at Noida.
The two arrested accused, Mohammed Fasahat and Mushahid, both aged around 22, had suspected that Shabir Khan, 30, was having an affair with Mushahid’s sister.
The third accused Asif, Mushahid’s cousin, is still absconding.
Khan’s body was found near the Ganga canal area of Masoori near NH-24 on August 10. Fasahat, a diploma engineering student from a reputed university in Delhi, was friends with their sister and had a liking for her.
Fasahat was jealous of Khan as the girl had accepted the latter’s offer to join him as an insurance advisor. The two brothers came to know of her affair with Khan when she started meeting him at Noida and Meerut quite frequently.
This angered the two brothers. Fasahat, their neighbour and friend, joined them and offered to get rid of Khan.
The trio conspired and called Khan to Meerut on the pretext of undertaking an insurance policy. “From Meerut, they took the victim on their bikes and all four of them drove back to Ghaziabad via the Ganga canal area. They stopped at an isolated spot during the night and shot the victim,” said Raghubir Lal, senior superintendent of police.
While the two accused were produced before a court, police officials said Asif would also be nabbed soon.
