The Gurgaon Police on Thursday arrested a 27-year old stock broking firm employee for staging his own abduction to extort money from his father.

The accused, Amit Garg, took the help of his cousin and a friend and cooked up an abduction story to make up for Rs. 5 lakh he lost in the stock market.

Garg was found hiding in Haridwar.

His friend had demanded Rs. 5 lakh ransom money from Garg’s father.

Garg has been booked him for misleading the police with wrong facts and arrested.

A resident of New Palm Vihar, Garg -- who worked with a private stock broking company in DLF City -- had lost the amount in the stock market and had gone missing after office hours on February 26.

The police registered a case of abduction against unknown persons after his father Mahavir Garg received a ransom call on his mobile number on March 1.

However, investigations revealed that his cousin Pardip Kumar also had gone missing on the same day and this made the police suspicious.

CP Alok Mittal had also earlier said that preliminary investigations suggested Garg himself or his friends could have staged the abduction to extract money.
