A 55-year-old woman and her daughter suffered severe burns after an unidentified youth threw acid on them at a village near Jalandhar on Monday.
Harbhajan Kaur and her daughter Jasbir Kaur (27), who is a divorcee, were on their way to a local market in Ladhewali village to buy some household goods when they were suddenly attacked by the youth, police said.
They said he threw two glasses full of acid on women who were rushed to a nearby private hospital with severe burns.
The victims have been unable to identify the attacker and do not suspect anyone either, police said adding a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC has been registered against an unknown assailant and investigations are on.
