Mango fest in Konkan

MTDC now organises a tourism festival that celebrates the Alphonso, allows visitors and cultivators to interact with each other.

For those looking to learn more about the king of fruits, the mango, here’s a great opportunity to utilise. The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) in association with Kokan Green is organise a Kokan Alphonso tourism festival in the Konkan till June 9.



As part of the festival, visitors will be educated about the varieties of mangoes grown in the region as well as have the chance to view and taste the varieties grown in the area and meet the cultivators.



Dr Jagdish Patil, managing director, MTDC, says, “This festival will give mango growers an interactive platform to present the king of fruits. MTDC is been weaving festivals around the marvels of Maharashtra to create knowledge about the assortment of destinations amongst national and global tourists.”



As part of the tour, visitors will spend four days in the Konkan and stay at the residences of the farmers. One tourist family will be accommodated in a farmer family each.



To get a taste of the complete Konkan experience, the tourists will stay for two days at a house in the lap of Sahyadris and for another two days at a place on the seashore. They will also enjoy local specialties such as cashew, jackfruit and blueberries.
