Manish Agnihotri cricket tourney begins

THE SIXTH Manish Agnihotri memorial all-India cricket tournament began at the Old Campion grounds on Monday. On the inaugural day, a friendly match was played between the sponsors and organisers of the tournament. Sponsors won the match by six wickets. The tournament is being organised by Friends Club.

THE SIXTH Manish Agnihotri memorial all-India cricket tournament began at the Old Campion grounds on Monday. On the inaugural day, a friendly match was played between the sponsors and organisers of the tournament. Sponsors won the match by six wickets. The tournament is being organised by Friends Club. 

After winning the toss, sponsor team skipper Hamidullah Khan ‘Mamu’ elected to field first. Batting first, organising committee team scored 109 runs for the loss of all wickets. Skipper of the team Arunehswar Singhdeo scored 25 runs.
Mahesh Prajapati supported the skipper by scoring 27 runs. However, other batsmen failed to face a fine bowling attack from the rival team.

Chasing the total, sponsor team equalised the target in 20 overs after losing six wickets. OP Chaudhary scored highest 51 runs. Vinod Halve contributed 21 runs for the team.

Earlier, MP State Election Commission chairman AV Singh and Bhopal Divisional Cricket Association (BDCA) president Dhruv Narain Singh inaugurated the tournament.

Member of the World Cup winning squad of 1983, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, the special guest, in his address lauded the organisers for giving opportunity to the local players to play against the Ranji players and others senior players.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation Mayor      Sunil Sood,  MP Builders’ Association   president Dilip  Singh Suryavanshi, organising committee convenor JP Tyagi, Rajesh Agnihotri, Milin Sagorkar, Hemant Kapoor, Sushil Singh, Suresh Chenani, Sahnti Jain, Rakesh Rajoriya, Manish Chandorkar, Suhail Ansari, Mohnish Mishra, Brijesh Tomar, Vinay Bhadauria and others were present.
