The Prime Minister may act against the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act during his visit to Manipur.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to announce in Manipur - on Saturday - changes in a tough law that gives sweeping powers to the security forces.
The prime minister may act against the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act during a visit to the northeastern state.
Manipuri activists have for long demanded the scrapping of the act, saying it has been abused by security forces. Manipur goes to the polls early next year.
