Defence minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday arrived in Leh on a two-day visit to review the security situation and defence preparedness in the state along Ladakh borders and cross border infiltration.
The minister, accompanied by the chief of Army Staff Gen Dalbir Singh held a high-level meeting of top commanders of Jammu and Kashmir, defence officials said.
"The General officer Corps 14 Corps briefed the defence minister on the prevailing military situation and also state of defence preparedness along the borders of Ladakh," defence spokesperson Col SD Goswami said.
Parrikar addressed the troops in Leh apart from visiting a DRDO unit there. The defence minister also visited the Defence Institute of High Altitude Research in Leh and was briefed by DG R&D on the ongoing projects by the institute. Parrikar will return to Delhi on Monday.
