What do you start the day with?
Plenty of water and aloe vera juice.. followed by breakfast of egg white omelette or cornflakes with two slices of brown bread.
And what do you end the day with?
Fruits and curd.
On a date what would you like to be wooed with?
If you were marooned on an island what would you want to take along?
Brown rice.. and a couple of bottles of white wine. Then, I can roast fish, boil rice and sip wine. Bliss!
When you eat out what do you inevitably order?
What do you always serve guests at home?
My wife, Shabana, makes great mutton curry. So we usually serve that with rice.
Your first culinary experiment?
I’m not a cook and every time I’ve ventured into the kitchen, it has been a disaster.
What has been your most memorable experiment with food?
I’m not a seafood person. But on the sets of Acid Factory recently, I experimented with prawns. Fortunately, I wasn’t allergic to them.
Which is the one food item you can’t do without?
Brown rice.. can’t afford to eat white rice and put on the kilos.
A food item you abhor?
Baingan.. just the look puts me off.
The yuckiest thing you have tasted?
Chicken in milk at a Bombay restaurant I wouldn’t wish to name.
What is your favourite drink?
Any fresh fruit juice.
If you weren’t a movie star what would you binge on?
Rice and mutton curry.
As a child was there something you had to have everyday?
Khichdi and curds.
What’s your favourite dessert?
Rosgullas.. if I didn’t have to watch my weight I could have 50 of them in one go.

Recently, I had chole and kulcche in Delhi.
When you go shopping what do you usually end up buying?
Fat-free ice cream.

Finish eating by 8 pm.. and say no to a second serving.

Which festival do you associate with food.. what kind?
Diwali with mithais, specially kaju barfi.
A dinner invitation you would never refuse?
Any Delhiwala. More so if it was home cooked khana.
If you opened a specialty restaurant where would it be and what would it serve?
Definitely Italian and in Mumbai. I’ve developed a taste for pasta and spaghetti.
Do you have a speciality dish?
Chicken stew with lots of vegetables.
If you could choose your last meal it would be..
A Bihari meal of khichdi, bharta and dahi.
