Manoj, Kamini lift table tennis titles

MANOJ KAUSHAL and Kamini Parmar lifted the men’s and women’s table tennis title in the third and final ranking table tennis tournament organised by Indore District Table Tennis Association at the Sidhharth Sports Academy. In the men’s final, Manoj Kaushal defeated Rahul Chobe 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 and 11-9 to lift the title. Kamini Parmar beat Nidhi Agarwal 11-7, 11-9 and 11-9 in the women’s final. The chief guest and journalist Omi Khandelwal distributed prizes.

Anupam, Bhagirath, Sourabh, Arvind qualify
ANUPAM URAITE, Bhagirath, Sourabh Singh and Arvind Vishnu have entered the qualifying rounds in the All-India Junior Talent Series Tennis Tournament organised by the Indore Tennis club at their courts. Boys’ U-18 qualifying matches were played on Sunday and the following players have sailed in to the qualifying round.

Anupam Uraite of MP beat Vishi Porwal of MP 8-0, Bhagirath Paruthi of AP beat Neeraj Choudhry of Rajasthan 8-2, Sourabh Singh of Delhi beat Parth Jhqla of MP 8-2, Arvind Vishnu of AP beat Jai Bapna of MP 8-1, Meet Shah of MP defeated Jash Jaisinghani of MP 8-3, Bhavesh Gaur of MP beat Amol Pujari of MP 8-4, Gautam Sriram of AP defeated Vijay Sonkar of MP 8-1 and Havya Vij of Delhi defeated Abhishek Prathi of Delhi 8-1 to enter the qualifying rounds. Mohindar Singh from Haryana is top seed in the age group for U-14 years and MP’s Sourabh Raghuvanshi is seeded second. MP’s Keshav Patidar leads the U-18 age group and Rahul Singroley is seeded second.

Tennis first round matches played
THE FIRST round matches of the All-India Junior Talent Series Tennis Tournament being organised by the Indore Tennis Club were played here on Monday. In the boys under-18 category, top-seeded Keshav Patidar, Madhav Patidar, Amit Sewani and Dushyant Verma (all from Madhya Pradesh), Indrajit Singh from Punjab and Arvind Vishnu from Andhra Pradesh have sailed into the second round. In the boys under-14 segment, Amol Pujari, Bamkin Silawat, Sankalp Ganghi, Yash Bhargawa and Hriship Patni (all from Madhya Pradesh) and Vedant Rastogi from Delhi have qualified for the next round.

In the under-18 years main draw matches for girls, Avani Mittal, Anveshi Gupta and Lavleen Raizada (all from Madhya Pradesh), Shailee Shah from Gujarat and Baljinder Kaur from Haryana have steered into the second round.

Inter-school shuttlers’ meet from tomorrow
CBSE WEST ZONE Inter-School Badminton Tournament 2006 organised by the ILVA Higher Secondary School will begin on November 8. All matches will be played at Nehru Stadium. Speaking to media, ILVA Association president Devendra Bansal said more than 600 players are taking part in the mega event. School chairman Yeshwant Kaushik said teams from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu are taking part in the tournament.

Cultural programmes will be organised in the evening to entertain the participants, he said. Kaushik said 40 schools have sent entries for the 14 years boys category and 39 schools in the 16 years category. In girls category, 22 institutions have sent entries in the 14 years age group and 17 schools in the 16 years age group. Matches will be played in the 10, 14 and 16 years age groups for boys and girls, he said. Dharmesh Yashlaha has been appointed chief referee while State qualified umpires would officiate the matches.

Ishan scoops gold
NATIONAL PUBLIC School’s Ishan Vairagkar secured gold in the inter- school swimming competition organised by the Sayaji Club recently. Ishan won gold in the breast stroke event. School principal S Chatnis and the management have congratulated Ishan.
