The small town of Peddapalli in Telangana region’s Karimnagar district was literally chock-a-block as thousands turned up at the Chandanapally ground where slain Maoist leader Mallajola Koteswara Rao alias Kishenji was cremated on Sunday.

Kishenji was killed in a gunfight with security forces at Burisole jungle in West Midnapore district of West Bengal on November 24.

The CPI-Maoist group has called for a two-day ‘Bharat bandh’ on December 4 and 5 to protest the killing, which it said was staged.
