Maoists beheaded two tribals in public and abducted at least 12 people from Markegaon village in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on Thursday.

A rebel group killed Ramu Narote, 31, and Deosai Usendi, 34, after branding them police informers. The killings take the death toll of villagers branded "police informers" to eight in the troubled district this year.

Since January 2010, rebels have killed 85 civilians, including three women and two school students in Gadchiroli.
