Maoists blow up water pump houses amidst a heat wave

Maoists have blown up two water pump houses at Karampada area in West Singhbhum district affecting water supply to the area at a time when a heat wave is prevailing in the state.

Maoists have blown up two water pump houses at Karampada area in West Singhbhum district affecting water supply to the area at a time when a heat wave is prevailing in the state.

The Maoists blew up the pump houses, one belonging to Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and the other to the Railways, on Monday night, Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Jha said on Tuesday.

The Karampada area is already reeling under scarcity of water and electricity.

Effigies of Deputy Chief Minister, Raghuvar Das, and State Water Resource Minister, Chandraprakash Chowdhury, were set on fire by residents of the area on Monday.
