Two Maoists exchanged fire with police before making an escape in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district in the early hours today, police said.

The duo were sighted at the Kooneru railway station at Komarada mandal of the district by a special police party, they said.

Upon seeing the police they opened fire to which the latter retaliated by firing three rounds. However, the Maoists escaped in the darkness, police said.
