Maoists on Saturday killed a surrendered women cadre and her two year old son at her home in Rangadhipa village, about 30 km from Rourkela.

The Maoists entered the 24 year old woman's home and slit her throat as well as that of her son, police said, adding, the woman's husband had died six months ago.

She had surrendered to the police in 2005 and had been employed as a home guard by the Rourkela police two years later.

As per the rehabilitation package for surrendered Maoists she had also been allotted a plot of land under the Indira Awas Yojana, police said.
