Maoists kill Trinamool Congress leader

A Trinamool Congress leader was shot dead by Maoists at Jhargram in Maoist-hit West Midnapore district, the police said.

A Trinamool Congress leader was shot dead by Maoists at Jhargram in Maoist-hit West Midnapore district, the police said.

Sources said five Maoist cadre shot Lalmohan Mahato (39) from close range at Chotopukhuria and fled in two motorbikes.

Mahato died on the spot and the body bore bullet marks on the head and chest.

The police have found posters from the spot saying that 'he was punished for being a member of the vigilante group called Bhairab Bahini'.

He was going to his coaching centre to give private tuition to the school students.

Mahato was a Trinamool Congress leader of Pukhuria area.
