Maoists ransacked house of a local CPI(M) leader during a late night raid in which they shot and injured a member of village resistance team at a village in West Bengal's Purulia district.
Armed Maoists raided and ransacked the house of CPI(M) Ghatbera Local Committee Secretary Chandan Singh Laya on Sunday night. They later set the house ablaze after failing to find him, police said.
The Maoists opened fire when they were attacked with bows and arrows by the village resistance committee.
They shot at Chandrasekhar Singh, a member of the resistance committee, injuring him in the knee, they said, adding Singh was admitted to a hospital.
