Nepal's Maoist rebels on Tuesday rejected the King's decision to reinstate Parliament, said his speech failed to address the demands of protesters and announced a blockade of Kathmandu and district capitals.
"This royal proclamation is a sham and a conspiracy against the Nepali people," Maoist leader Prachanda said in a statement. "Our party firmly rejects this."
Prachanda called on the Nepali people to continue peaceful street protests until elections were called for a special assembly to write a new Constitution.
