It's official now. Diego Maradona will be arriving here on December 5 late in the evening. At a media conference at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday, MP Shamik Lahiri announced the dates of the legend's visit to the city and his itinerary, approved till now, with sports minister Subhas Chakraborty by his side.
"On December 6, Maradona will inaugurate the Indian Football School, a residential academy at Maheshtala. This will be followed by a media conference," said Bhaswar Goswami, executive director of the Celebrity Management Group, the company organising Maradona's visit.
And for the evening, the sports minister promised a felicitation function of such grandeur at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan that the country will remember.
"The felicitation would be followed by dinner where some articles used by Maradona will be auctioned and the money used for charity," Goswami said.
"On December 7, Maradona will visit the Mother House and the Missionaries of Charity and then conduct a football clinic for children. The venue of the clinic is yet to be confirmed. He will leave for Buenos Aires in the evening," Goswami added.
