Malaysia says missing plane may have turned back, probing terror angle
Malaysia on Sunday said a missing airliner carrying 239 people may have inexplicably turned back, as authorities launched a terror probe into the plane's sudden disappearance, investigating suspect passengers who boarded with stolen passports. The United States sent the FBI to investigate after Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing vanished from radar early on Saturday somewhere at sea between Malaysia and Vietnam. A terror angle was being probed.
Joshi, Swaraj deny rift in BJP over Lok Sabha ticket from Varanasi
A day after a key BJP meet saw sparks fly over the allocation of Lok Sabha constituencies and alliances, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi indicated on Sunday he left it to the party's prime ministerial nominee, Narendra Modi, to take a call on the LS ticket from Varanasi. The seat is currently held by Joshi. Senior leader Sushma Swaraj also denied any rift in the party over the LS ticket.
LS polls: MNS fields candidates; to support Modi for PM's post
In a significant political move, MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday announced candidates for the Lok Sabha polls and also declared his party's support for BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi. "We will contest the Lok Sabha elections. I will show my party's strength during the elections. We will support Narendra Modi for the PM's post," he told his party workers on the eighth foundation day of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
Coal scam: CBI likely to file chargesheet on Monday
The CBI will submit a status report on Monday informing the Supreme Court about the progress made in the coal scam probe and on filing a chargesheet in one of the cases registered by the probe agency in 2012. Sources in the investigating agency said a chargesheet was likely to be filed on Monday before a designated court and the Supreme Court would be apprised about it.
Virat Kohli reclaims No. 1 ODI ranking
India's Virat Kohli has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the latest ICC rankings for One-Day International (ODI) batsmen released on Sunday at the conclusion of the Asia Cup which was won by Sri Lanka. Kohli had entered the Asia Cup, trailing No. 1 ranked AB de Villiers by two points. Kohli's tournament aggregate of 189 runs in three innings, with 136 against Bangladesh as his series best, earned him 12 points which has put him ahead of South Africa ODI captain by nine points.
Putin says wants 'diplomatic solution' to Ukraine crisis: London
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday he wanted to find a "diplomatic solution" to the crisis in Ukraine in a telephone call with British Prime Minister David Cameron, according to Downing Street. Cameron had called Putin to urge him to "de-escalate" the situation in Ukraine and to support the formation of a contact group that could lead to direct talks between Moscow and the new leaders in Kiev.
Aamir Khan lodges complaint over defamatory campaign against him on Facebook
Bollywood star Aamir Khan has registered a complaint with the Mumbai police in the wake of a defamatory campaign against him on Facebook. The "malicious messages are wrong and baseless", he has said. Aamir Khan shares a special bond with kids as he prepares for Satyamev Jayate 2. It has been alleged in the messages on social networking site that that when at the end of the show, Aamir asks for donations for Humanity Trust, the money is used for masjid construction assistance and placement assistance for Muslim youth.
