With the festival of Navratras in full swing and devotees visiting temples, markets of the district are flooded with new arrivals in gold jewellery, ready-made clothes, dry fruits, electronic gadgets and many more.
Traders are optimistic that they would do good business in the coming months and they will be able to fetch better prices.
Earlier in September, traders spent their time watching TV or cleaning their shops.
A visit to various markets of Hamirpur district showed that there was a rush of customers buying various items for their families.
Ram Swaroop of Nadaun town said the sales go up Navratra onwards and it would continue till Diwali. Ramesh Chand, a cloth merchant, said sales had started picking up from Tuesday. He admitted that prices had gone up this time by 10 to 20% as compared to previous year.
Sushma Sharma of Sujanpur said the prices had shot up. It would be difficult to make purchases for the festival season.
However, Vijay Kumar Hand, a gold dealer, said the arrival of buyers had started and rise in rates of various items would not hamper the sale of gold and silver.
