A 28-year-old married woman was allegedly gang-raped by six men at Nahal village in Ghaziabad on early Saturday morning.
According to police, the incident took place around 2am when the six men, who included her two neighbours, entered her house and forcibly raped her after assaulting her.
The accused allegedly covered her face with a cloth and threatened her to keep quiet during the incident.
Her daughter was at home when the incident happened. Her husband was away at a marriage at Baghpat in Western UP. Her daughter, who
was sleeping in another room, woke up and alerted neighbours after which the accused fled from the spot, taking advantage of darkness.
After her husband returned, the victim lodged an FIR at the Masuri police station against her neighbours Salim, Jamil and four other unidentified persons under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 452 (house trespass for assault) of IPC.
She was later sent for medical examination.
Superintendent of police (SP Rural) said a search had been launched to nab the accused. “Prima facie, her medical reports have not indicated any internal and external injuries and her statements are yet to be corroborated. We are investigating the case,“ Kumar added.
