The district administration's efforts to bring a peaceful end to the deadlock between the agitating employees of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and the company management failed, as the workers did not turn up for talks on Friday.

Various labour organisations in the region feel the dispute can be resolved only through talks. On September 19, some organisations had requested the district administration to mediate between the two parties.

After consulting the labour department, the administration decided to conduct talks between the parties at Huda Gymkhana Club in Sector 29 on Friday. But representatives of the employees did not turn up.

Meanwhile, officials of the district administration and labour department have asked both the workers and the management to come forward for talks. The officials said they were ready to mediate to bring peace in the region.
