Union Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Deb said on Wednesday he had formally proposed the selling of the remaining 10 per cent government stake in car maker Maruti Udyog Ltd.
The ministry has sent a note to officials and the administration's coalition partners so the sale can be taken up by the federal cabinet, he said. "It can be done any time," Dev said.
The government said in August that it had no objection to the sale. Maruti is 54.2 per cent owned by Japan's Suzuki Motor Co.
