Even as the multi-crore garland controversy involving Chief Minister Mayawati is yet to subside, the BSP leaders presented another garland worth Rs 18 lakh to her at a party meeting in Lucknow on Wednesday.
Mayawati had summoned a meeting of MPs, MLAs, party office-bearers and cordinators in Lucknow on Wednesday to chalk out action plan to counter Opposition drive against her.
Addressing the gathering national General Secretary Nasimuddin Siddique said that 18 party coordinators from all over the state had contributed Rs 18 lakh ( Rs one lakh each) to make garland for today's function.
Siddique, rebutting the opposition charge on the issue, said resentment was brewing among the party workers over the opposition allegaiton. He said the opposition had not been able to digest the popularity of the Chief Minister and had launched drive against the party.
He said Rs 18 lakh presented in the form of garland was for helping the party organisation. Siddique said previous garland was made of Rs 21 lakh.
