Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati on Thursday announced her opposition to the lokpal bill on account of non-inclusion of the CBI under the proposed anti-graft law. Mayawati said without bringing the CBI under the ambit of the watchdog, the entire exercise would be futile.
The CM said successive central governments had misused the CBI to serve their vested interests. She said the Congress-led UPA government did not consider her suggestions in finalising the bill for a strong legislation.
“If the CBI is not brought under lokpal purview, the BSP will not support it," she said in a release here.
