THE SEVENTH edition of the All-India Mayank Chaturvedi Cricket Tournament will be played at Old Campion ground from January 15. Its final will be held on February 1.
Talking to journalists, organising secretary Dr Sushil Singh said the winning team would be awarded a trophy and Rs 51,000 while runners-up will receive Rs 31,000.
“We have invited 22 leading teams including 12 from across the country for the tournament,” he said. Those participating from outside the State include Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Navi Mumbai, SEC Bilaspur, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur and others.
The tournament will be organised in two rounds. In the first round, matches between local teams will be held. Outstation teams will contest in the second round. Top two teams of both rounds will then play in the semifinal round.
Organising committee chairman K P Rai, president Subodh Ingle and others were present at the press conference here on Friday.
Cross-country race on Jan 14
THE 12th Bhagat Singh Rawat memorial cross-country race and 45th MP state-level cross country meet will be oragnised in the City on January 14. MPAAA, in association with BHEL Sports Authority and Bhagat Singh Rawat Sports Club, will organise the meet.
BHEL Sports Authority DGM KM Bhasin will bet guest of opening ceremony. Minister industries Babulal Gaur will be the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
Chess Academy inauguration today
ACADEMY OF Chess Education will be formally inaugurated at MIG-15 Shankar Nagar near Sarojini Naidu Girls School on Saturday.
International Master Atanu Lahri will be the special guest of the function. A competition will be organised on the occasion.
