BSP PRESIDENT Mayawati on Wednesday predicted mid-term election to Lok Sabha, saying that UPA Government’s failure to contain spiralling price rise generated widespread discontent among the people.

“There is a widespread discontent among the allies of the UPA Government too due to the Centre’s failure to check price rise,” she told reporters here.

The BSP chief said her party, which is supporting the UPA Government from outside, is also worried over the impact of price rise.

However, Mayawati parried questions regarding when the BSP was withdrawing support from the Congress. She denied that she had raised the matter in view of the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The BSP leader said although the legislation was passed regarding 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutes, the situation regarding its implementation was not clear.

The BSP supremo is in Bhopal to preside over a party convention of district and Assembly segment-level party workers from four states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Orissa from tomorrow.

The meet will discuss strategies and means to strengthen the party organisation in these states.

BSP demo at Sadar Manzil
THE WORKERS of Bahujan Samaj Party today demonstrated at the Bhopal Municipal Corporation headquarters Sadar Manzil. The police forcibly removed the workers later.

The BSP workers alleged that the BMC had not made arrangements of sanitation at the site where the BSP leader Mayawati is scheduled to address the public meeting. The workers blocked the road for about half hour creating traffic chaos in front of Sadar Manzil. However, the police removed these workers.

A large police force was deployed at Sadar Manzil during the demonstration.
