Mayor, corporators to take oath tomorrow

WAIT FOR oath-taking ceremony for new mayor and 80 corporators of Allahabad Nagar Nigam is finally over. Following the notification made by the State Government on Monday, the  stage is set at the Nigam premises for the ceremony to be held on November 16 at 10 am.

Commissioner Allahabad Division, R N Tripathi, will administer the oath to the newly elected office-bearers of NN in a simple function.

The date of oath-taking was finalised after alteration twice. Earlier November 12 was fixed for the ceremony. However the programme was postponed in view of visit of Chief Secretary to the city. Again November 14 was fixed but in absence of the notification by the State Government it was also not materialized.

However, November 16 has been tied up after consultation with Mayor Chaudhry Jitendra Nath Singh.

According to Additional Municipal Commissioner GN Shukla invitation cards were being sent to MPs, MLAs, former mayors, corporators, district administration officials and other important persons for participating in the auspicious occasion.

In the new House the Congress Mayor Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh will face ruling Samajwadi Party's 27 corporators.  Besides, the  House will have 13 BJP, 9 Congress and 32 independent corporators.

The newly elected Mayor has hinted that he would like to apprise himself with practical picture of NN before taking any major decision.
