...lists roads, garbage & street lighting as priority
WITHOUT LOSING anytime, newly elected mayor Ravindra Patni has set down the agenda for Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials.
The mayor has identified repair of roads, timely disposal of garbage and proper street lighting as his immediate agenda. On his second day as mayor, Patni presided over a meeting at the KMC guest house. Municipal commissioner Badal Chatterjee, additional municipal commissioner R Vikkram Singh and other senior officials of the KMC were present at the meeting.
Presiding over the meeting, Patni gave instructions to carry out extensive zone-wise survey of the city to identify roads that require repair. To ensure timely completion of work and simultaneous drive in all areas, Patni issued instructions to constitute separate teams for all six zones.
“Timely disposal of garbage has to be ensured. A zone-wise drive must be launched to ensure proper disposal of garbage without any delay,” instructed Patni.
Emphasising on the importance of proper street lighting, Patni issued instructions to earmark areas of the city that lack the facility.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Patni said, “Specific instructions have been issued relating to patch-work, disposal of garbage and street lighting.” A 15-day timeframe had also been fixed for completion of the work, Patni added.
However, he admitted that due to financial crisis only patch- work of roads could be carried out at present. On the dilapidated condition of Express Road, the mayor stated it would be taken care of in due course of time.
On Monday Patni is expected to inspect KMC-run hospitals.
