The mayor of the Gurgaon Municipal Corporation would be from General category, as the seat has been reserved for the same.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting presided over by director, Urban Local Bodies, and attended by all officials concerned including divisional commissioners and commissioners of municipal corporations on Wednesday in Chandigarh.
The meeting was convened to reserve the seat of mayor in eight municipal corporations of Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ambala, Karnal, Panipat, Hisar, Rohtak and Yamuna Nagar.
Gurgaon has a total number of 35 wards.
Ten seats (ward no. 3, 8, 11, 14, 27, 28, 29, 30, 33 and 34) are reserved for women and six (ward no. 13, 7, 22, 16, 25 and 15) are for Scheduled Caste candidates.
Two seats (ward no. 34 and 24) are reserved for candidates from backward classes.
