On the fourth day of filing nominations for municipal elections, 73 candidates filed their papers taking the total number of nominations to 112. Of the candidates filing nomination on Thursday, two were from BSP and one from NCP. Meanwhile, Congress and BJP are yet to finalise their lists.

But the BJP is expected to come up with its first list on Friday, bringing about the much necessary hype to the nominations, which at present are being made only by smaller parties.

Three municipal bodies — East, North and South — will go to polls on April 15 and the counting of votes will take place on April 17. The last date for filing of nominations is March 26 and last date for withdrawal of nomination is March 28.

Both the main political parties have kick-started their campaign to woo the voters for the upcoming elections.
