MCD rains on Delhiites’ parade before the rainy season begins

This refers to the report MCD too broke to fix roads, monsoon will be jam season (April 18). The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is concerned about maintaining infrastructure only in the VIP areas. So we shouldn’t be surprised if roads in the capital cave in or streets gets waterlogged again this year, as the MCD has once again thrown up its hands in despair months before the monsoon hits Delhi.

We need to keep this in mind

With reference to the editorial It’s not all in the mind (Our Take, April 18), the case of the two Noida sisters is shocking to say the least. It shows that people are so busy with their own lives that they don’t have the time to stay in touch with even their near and dear ones. This should be a wake-up call for the authorities, NGOs and people to take note of mental disorders, which, unlike popular belief, are curable.

Time to undo the damage

Chief Justice of India SH Kapadia’s comment on the need for a clean judiciary is welcome (‘Don’t protect dirty judges’, April 17). Corruption is spreading like cancer in India. It’s important that politicians, bureaucrats and senior public officials take the lead in our fight against corruption, as they are the ones who have nurtured the problem all along.
