The construction of a proposed business centre is in limbo as the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is yet to give its green signal. Senior deputy mayor has said the civic body plans to build its own office at the proposed site.
The site located along busy Mehrauli Road is near to the existing MCG office.
"We are working on it and very soon some concrete steps will be taken," MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal said, adding that the site has been earmarked for the construction of 'vyapar kendra' only.
However, Gurgaon's senior deputy mayor Yashpal Batra said, "The house is planning to build a new corporation office there. The corporation is facing space crunch for councillors and other staff."
"We held a meeting with the commissioner in this regard and we all are of the view that the MCG must have a new office," Batra added.
Meanwhile, people living near the proposed site have been complaining about garbage dump in the area. They say waste is being dumped at the site posing health risk for them.
"I had written a letter to former commissioner, MCG, Rajesh Khullar to check such nuisance as students of my colleges were complaining about bad smell," said Ashok Diwakar, principal, Gurgaon Government College, Mehrauli Road.
Hemant Vasisth, who runs a hotel in the area, said, "I have been facing the heat of this nuisance for the past several days."
