Coming down heavily on unauthorised buildings in the city, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is all set to disconnect water, sewer and electricity connections to such illegal structures.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting held here on Tuesday, which was presided over by financial commissioner (FC)-cum-secretary (urban local bodies) Ram Niwas.
The financial commissioner, who discussed at length about identified unapproved buildings in the MCG area, has directed MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal to take immediate action against illegal building owners by disconnecting sewer, water and electricity connections.
“The financial commissioner has sought disconnection of sewer, water and electricity connections to the unauthorised buildings,” said an MCG official.
The MCG has identified over 400 unapproved buildings in the city, of which only one building so far has been demolished.
According to sources, the meeting with FC was held to defuse tension that prevailed in the wake of MCG’s action against a property of senior deputy mayor’s wife.
The corporation so far has failed to check construction of unapproved buildings in the city. It has also earned flak from the deputy commissioner office.
