MCI team inspects BRD Pathology Department

A MEDICAL COUNCIL of India (MCI) team began a two-day inspection of the Baba Raghav Das Medical College?s Pathology Department. It will look into the condition of seminar halls, laboratories and other infrastructure. It will be the eighth department of the medical college to be inspected. The exercise is being carried out to assess whether recognition to post graduate seats in the department should continue.

A MEDICAL COUNCIL of India (MCI) team began a two-day inspection of the Baba Raghav Das Medical College’s Pathology Department.

It will look into the condition of seminar halls, laboratories and other infrastructure. It will be the eighth department of the medical college to be inspected. The exercise is being carried out to assess whether recognition to post graduate seats in the department should continue.

The team was led by Prof Tajendra Singh of the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

Earlier, separate teams had inspected seven departments. Medical College principal Dr RD Mukhija said the Pathology Department was well equipped. He expressed hope that members of the team would be satisfied. He said 40 lab technicians could get training at the pathology department.

Sources said members of the team inspected the equipment and seminar halls, along with lab and enquired about tests for various diseases.

According to reports, members of the team looked satisfied with the facilities at the Pathology Department to examine Japanese Encephalitis cases.

The team will stay here till May 25 and submit its report to the MCI in December. With this, inspection of the college will be completed. The Junior Doctors’ Association had launched agitations several times to mount pressure on the government to invite the MCI team. The inspection is taking place after 20 years.
