In yet another blow to MDMK, sitting MLA of Cumbum constituency N Ramakrishnan on Thursday resigned from the party accusing the high command of 'encouraging' dissidents in this district.
Party presidium chairman M Kannappan had quit on March 11. Ramakrishnan told reporters that he had recommended that the high command take disciplinary action against some party functionaries for their 'anti-party' activities.
Though they were immediately suspended, they had come back to the party fold now. "The MDMK is encouraging them and I find it difficult to develop the party in the region.
Besides the high command is eyeing me with suspicion in the same manner they viewed Kannappan, which hurt me," he said.
Kannappan had resigned on March 11 'unhappy' over not being given due importance in the Vaiko-led MDMK and submitted his resignation to the speaker A Avudaiappan on March 25.
