Medical student commits suicide

A STUDENT of the Gandhi Medical College (GMC) committed suicide in Koh-e-Fiza on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, Jitendra Diwakar, 25, lived in a rented accommodation in BDA Colony Koh-e-Fiza where he hanged himself to death today.

A STUDENT of the Gandhi Medical College (GMC) committed suicide in Koh-e-Fiza on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, Jitendra Diwakar, 25, lived in a rented accommodation in BDA Colony Koh-e-Fiza where he hanged himself to death today.

Diwakar was a third year student in GMC and shared the house with Dr Tapan Singh. Today Singh left the house at around 1 pm and returned a few hours later. As there was no response from within, Singh peeped in through the window and found Diwakar hanging by the ceiling. He then informed the police.

The body was sent for post-mortem. No suicide note was recovered. However, the police said that Diwakar was depressed because most of his batch-mates had reached the final year and he had remained in the third year.

He hailed from Vidisha where his father is a policeman. The Koh-e-Fiza police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the suicide.

n another incident, a youth committed suicide in Kotwali. Rohit Yadav, a resident of Kotwali, had consumed poison. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed. It is not known what prompted him to end life. A teenaged girl also committed suicide in Shahjahanabad. Jasoda, 16, committed suicide and the cause is yet to be ascertained.
