india Updated: Apr 08, 2009 22:09 IST

As many as 11 students of Osmania Medical College, who were arrested for forcing their juniors to do homo-sexual act, were released on bail by a local court on Wednesday.

The second year medical students arrested by Sultan Bazar police last night on charges of ragging their juniors were produced before the 2nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate who remanded them in 14 days judicial custody.

However, later, the arrested students were released on bail.

Before releasing on bail, the judge reprimanded them and counselled their parents too. “You (the arrested medicos) are going to be a doctor to serve the society and this kind of behaviour will jeopardise your future,” the judge observed.

The judge said this was a very serious offence and warned them that their admissions would be cancelled if they repeat the mistake in future.

According to police, 20 senior students took ten first year MBBS students on the terrace of the college hostel mess and subjected them to severe ragging for four hours from 10 pm on April 2.

The seniors asked their juniors to remove their shirts and innerwears in front of them and forced them to do sexual act on each other and made fun by ragging them, the police informed the court.
